Utility Bill Cap – 2022

Due to the changes to the cost of electricity and gas in the wholesale market, all consumers are seeing a rise in their utility bills. This is set to continue with the developing situation in Ukraine.

This change to utility cost is a particular issue within the student market, and is something we have to adapt to.

Our current inclusive allowance

Our standard utility allowance (which is solely for gas and electricity and excludes variable costs such as water and broadband or TV license):

Studio: £100
2 bed: £100 (note that very few two beds are inclusive)
3 bed: £100
4 bed: £110
5 bed: £120
6 bed: £130
7 bed: £140
8 bed: £150
9 bed: £160
10 bed: £170

Our new inclusive allowance

We are increasing the allowances for all properties to reflect the current unit costs. Our new allowance is in general terms a 30% increase. If there are further price increases we may have to revisit this.

The new allowance is:

Studio: £100
2 bed: £120 (note that very few two beds are inclusive)
3 bed: £130
4 bed: £143
5 bed: £156
6 bed: £169
7 bed: £182
8 bed: £195
9 bed: £208
10 bed: £260

The detail

For tenancies starting 1st July and onwards we will be using the above figures.

Thinking of swapping suppliers?

You can seek advice on changing suppliers to get a better rate from the Martin Lewis website MoneySavingExpert. At the moment there is no definitive advice given the developing situation in Ukraine.

How do we manage this?

We rely on you to let us know if there has been an overspend situation. If you do pick up high usage, we can verify it with our online calculator. We will need recent copies of bills so any overspend can be recovered at the correct usage rate.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to let us know!
